Racing the Mail

One more week of training almost done, one more week closer to Grand Rapids.

I did the first of two long runs today - a 10 miler around the lake. I ended up playing tortoise and hare with the UPS truck all the way down the East Shore - about two miles. I raced the mail lady up the northwest side of the lake yesterday. Hmmm...

It was a pretty good run but my quads are sore especially going up and down the stairs. It will be interesting to see how I fair going into the last heavy training week before the marathon. It is as follows:
Sunday - 8
Monday - Strength (I'll go spin)
Tuesday - Rest (I'll do pilates)
Wednesday - 10 mile tempo run (has been running about 9:07/mile lately - a far cry from last year's speed- bummer)
Thursday - 7 miles
Friday - 16 miles
Saturday - 8 miles
Sunday - collapse

I'm waiting for a friend to pick me up. A group of us are getting together at our friend's "River House". It is only about 10 minutes from us. We're going to make pizza on the grill tonight and enjoy a variety of beverages. Some of us are spending the night and having lemon poppy seed pancakes with raspberry syrup for breakfast in the morning. The syrup is divine! I'm looking forward to a night away although I don't know how late I'll be able to stay up. I told Steve this afternoon I was about ready to drop.

Steve and the girls are fishing so maybe we'll have some big catch photos to post tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

"a variety of beverages" is code for...? Those pancakes sound divine! I so want to be you in the morning.

We did some imbibing around the campfire - ended up being white wine. We stayed the night there so we didn't have to worry about driving. We stayed up and talked until 2 am and were still up at 7:45 am. Something is wrong with that! I think the pancakes would have been much better if I wasn't so full from all the pizza and chocolate last night.
