Running with Bugs

I went out for my 10-mile tempo run yesterday morning, a run around the lake. The weather has been beautiful here, and while it ended up being 80 degrees and humid yesterday, it was a bit on the cool side in the morning. I kept up a decent pace and have decided to take a quick walk break every 20 minutes. I think it is helping my overall time and I'm a bit more consistent pace wise.

Even with the cool weather, I was still sweating of course. I needed to wipe off my eye and looked down to grab the side of my shirt. It was polka-dotted with little black dots. It wasn't that way when I left home. I looked down the front of my shirt and it was the same way. Yuck!!! Little tiny black bugs had gotten stuck on my wet shirt and died. Needless to say, I used my hand, which later, was also polka dotted.

When I got home, I headed upstairs for a shower and stopped to talk to my husband. He looked at me and said, "Yuck!" Thinking it was just my shirt and arms, I said, yes, the bugs were bad out there today. I got to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror and let out a yell. My neck looked like it had a 5 o'clock shadow! It was covered with bugs. Thankfully, I don't think I swallowed any.

I'm almost through the highest mileage week of training with just a little speed bump. I missed the spinning class Monday thanks to a substitute teaching job in the afternoon so I switched rest days. Got the spinning in Tuesday by myself after a pilates class. I'm on track to do 16 miles tomorrow unless I get called in to sub (I got a phone call this morning but I forgot to take my cell phone upstairs with me).

Off to finish up some editing on a writer who doesn't know the difference between resolution and revolution and all be it and albeit. Always entertaining - if I can stay awake :-)

Blech! >:P Ew, ew, ew! This is why I don't miss the burbs or the country. I like my runs bug free.

I presume you are not editing an author about to mass publish? If so, it is a sad day for the literary community.

Hey, Karen! Comments from a distant country... me.

Had the very same experience this past week, Karen! I new I had bugs on me, but like you, till I looked in the mirror, I didn't realize how bad they were all over me! Ewww!

ps - the new/knew was a little chuckle-getter in response to you're editing comment. Come to think of it... so was the you're.

Regina, I think it is for a pretty focused techy computer audience. Probably don't have to start worrying quite yet :-)

Rick!!! Where have you been?!?
