Nine Days and Counting

It has been rainy and cold here the last few days, making for some miserable runs yesterday and today. And, both days, I could have run in drizzling rain or no rain had I not procrastinated. When I was finally ready to run, the rain was pouring down.

Yesterday, I ended up putting the run off until about 5:30 pm. It was still raining but not quite as bad as it had been earlier. I left the house thinking I'll run seven if it gets really bad and if my back starts bothering me. Surprisingly, I ended up having a fantastic run with relatively little back pain because I was using my core to keep the right side of my lower back stable. I got to the point where I would have to turn around to complete seven and decided to keep going. I finished the 10 mile tempo run with an average pace of 8:55 per mile!!! Finally!

Now today was a different story. Once again it was pouring when I opened the door to leave the house. This time, I gave myself 15 minutes (mostly because I had a small window of time to get the run in or it wasn't going to happen today). It kept on raining so I hit the road. It was miserable. My back bothered me a bit, my hands and legs were cold, my shoes were squishing with each step and the back of my right ankle felt like something was pushing into it. I got to 6. 4 miles of what was supposed to be 7 miles and had enough. I didn't even look at my average pace because I ended up doing a lot of walking trying to clear up the ankle issue.

Now it is 10:45 pm on a Friday night. I'm ready for bed and feel like the cold that I have been trying to put off with Airborne all week is going to take over. Probably the cold, wet runs. Time for more Airborne...

Really nice tempo run, I'm jealous! sorry your second run wasn't as stellar.

I start a running class on Tuesday, kind of terrified, since running really isn't my thing.

take care of yourself this weekend. You don't want that cold to take over! Feel better.
