Recovery Run

Yesterday was the first day I didn't feel sore, i.e. I could go up and down the stairs without using the banister and wall for support. My arms, around the shoulders are still a bit sore but only if I move my arms just right.

I've been wanting to go for a run since Monday but just haven't been able to squeeze it in and decided to let myself take it easy. I did go out this morning and figured I would go about 2 miles. Ended up going 3.5 miles and felt really good. I just went out at an easy pace. I brought the camera so I stopped every so often to snap some pictures which I'll post later.

I think I'm going to start hitting the elliptical machines at the fitness center again. I've had some pain in my shins for a while. It hasn't really gotten any worse but I noticed they hurt a little more today than in the past and they are tender to the touch. I might be the shoes I wore but I don't want to chance getting any worse.

It is a long weekend for Kate, no school today or tomorrow, so we are heading up to the cottage in Grand Haven. We may be freezing our tails off as the weather is supposed to be highs in the 50s, lows in the 30s, and rain. There is no insulation and we probably shouldn't use the fireplace. So we'll have some electric heaters and extra blankets and if it gets too cold, we'll go to my parent's house in Grand Rapids. We have to go over on Saturday anyway for my cousin's wedding. Should be interesting, um, sorry, fun, the wedding, that is.

Guess it is time to get off the computer and get packing. We were going to leave at noon...hmm, guess that's not going to happen :-)

Glad to read you got out for a run and it felt good. Take good care of those shins. I'm sure pounding them for 26.2 miles has something to do with inflamming the discomfort you have been having. Have a great weekend!
