A Rough Afternoon for the Lone Male in the House

Yes, I think it was a bit of a difficult afternoon for my husband as the estrogen was running high today.

I picked three-year-old Emily up from daycare this afternoon. One of the caretakers came over to me with a smile on her face and proceeded to tell me what she had done today. Em's friend Cyrus was sitting on Mrs. W's lap reading a book. Em ran over, kissed him on the cheek and said, "Now you're my boyfriend." When I told Steve, his eyes just rolled up into the back of his head.

Emily is just such a character. She constantly is doing things that just crack us up and astound us! She also is the only who can be throwing the mother of all fits in one second, and flip a switch and be snuggling and kissing on you the next. Oh, we are in trouble!

Kate, our almost seven year old (she is so excited about tomorrow because it is the first day of April and April is her birthday month) started soccer practice this afternoon. What a day for it! Thankfully, the temps were in the high 50s, but the wind was blowing and it was really overcast. About halfway through, it started to thunder and then pour. It ended quickly and the kids stayed practicing, but about 15 minutes later, there were a couple of flashes of lightening and more rain and they gave up.

Anyway, I'm looking out at a field of 30 girls, all but two are dressed in black or blue warm-ups or sweatpants and shirts. One girl was out there in brown boots and a spring kind of dress thing, and the other, mine, was out there in her pink jogging suit and long hair flying in the breeze. When we got home, I commented that I needed ot find the cleats I had bought at a garage sale last year. Kate asked if they were the black shoes. I told her that they were and she said she didn't want to wear them. She thought they were ugly, but if we could find a pair of pink ones, she would wear those. Of course, Steve went online and found a pair.

What about the running you ask? Well, I got in 5 miles yesterday and 4 miles today. I almost titled the post, get out your sunglasses because my pasty white legs were exposed today as I left my running tights home. While it was breezy, it was so nice outside. It felt good to really sweat, too. Today's run was a struggle as I am quite sleep deprived - stayed up until around 3 am working and then got up at 7 to get the kids off to school and daycare. I did keep moving today, so I am literally nodding off as I'm writing this. Time for bed.

Goodnight!

So that's what that blinding flash was outside our house---your pasty white legs!!
Thought it was some kind of nuclear attack.
hee hee.

By the way, PINK soccer shoes??? Don't tell Lili! It doesn't matter if she's playing soccer or not, she will totally want them!

Karen has pasty white legs b/c when taken out for lunch, she only drinks smoothies....!! That'll teach you to "drink" your lunch! :)

Your husband and I are in the same boat. My girls are 13 and 16 though. Tell him to relish these years, come hormonal change time around 10 - 12 on up into the teens and the middle and high school drama and he will be dying his hair. I just keep my very short, that way I don't have to deal with all the grey. :)

Great job on your runs! I was so excited to have done my last run (the only one of the past week... talk about a taper!) in shorts. Woohoo!

Thanks for stoppin' by my blog and the comments. Have a lovely weekend! (C;
