Summer's Back

Yes, summer has finally arrived! We had temperatures in the high 80s today after a night of thunderstorms, one of which sent us to the basement when the tornado siren went off. My husband had the laptop and was monitoring the storm as it slipped to the west of us. There may have been one tornado before the storm reached us but nothing by the time it got here.

Our basement is not the most pleasant place to be anytime, especially during a tornado warning so we were glad to go back upstairs after about 20 minutes.

With the high temps and high humidity, running has been rather, well, sweaty. As I haven't been able to drag myself out of bed anytime before 8 am all week, my runs have been in the evenings. I've been going about 4 miles but am having trouble keeping my pace consistent. I end up starting off too quickly but am able to complete a mile and a half. Then, I have to take a walking break about every 3/4 of a mile for the remainder of the run. I think it is mostly mental and I should probably go back to listening to PodRunner for a bit and get my pace back.

My husband got me a Garmin Forerunner for Mother's Day so I've been playing with it as long as I remember to keep it charged. I also found putting my daughters pink Barbie wristband under the watch makes it much more comfortable on my bony wrist.

One more week before the wedding - I'll be glad when it is done. There are so many details to finish ironing out that I'm having trouble getting my head around it. Besides that, I have about eight chapters to edit. I'm going to try to stay up until I get them finished so tomorrow I can play with the girls and do some wedding stuff before heading to Grand Rapids tomorrow and Grand Haven on Saturday. My mom's aunt passed away back in January in Florida and her kids are coming up for a memorial service and burial in GH. She was quite a lady. Although I didn't see her very often, I just kind of laugh every time I think about her. She was one for dramatics.

I've managed to put off work for 35 minutes. Time to get moving.

Have a great weekend!

Sounds like your basement is almost as pleasant as ours! Not something I want to do again anytime soon.
And, since Lili so loves the Wizard of Oz, she didn't get to sleep that night till ONE O'CLOCK because she was so fixated on the tornado coming.
Yikes.
Have a good, SUMMERY weekend!!
