Five Miles and a Half Hour to Go

My husband is heckling me. I need to step it up, he says. (He also called me last week to let me know a 38 year old had won the marathon. He said there's still hope - ha, ha!!) They are at 1 hour, 40 minutes and 21 miles. I really think this is the first time I've watched a marathon on television in real time and gotten an idea of really how fast the world class athletes run.

Here's a metaphor. The leaders just ran through a waterstop. The leaders, from different countries, fierce competitors, are sharing their bottle of water. It's neat to see the respect the athletes have for each other.

By the way, I know he's about a minute or so behind the leaders, but go Ryan!!!
