My Vacation So Far...

We're on vacation. I guess you could call it that. We're at the cottage, arriving Tuesday night after a crazy day of cleaning, packing, and fatally painting a chair for a chair auction.

I say fatally because something happened when I put on the last coat of pepto pink on the seat and it now looks awful. I was supposed to have it turned in this weekend - nope, not going to happen.

I have gotten in some sort of exercise for the last four days. I went to spinning class Monday, rode around the lake Tuesday, and ran Wednesday and Thursday. I tested my physical fitness Wednesday when I ran up Five Mile Hill (it is the point you can see when you are five miles out on Lake Michigan, not five miles high). It rises 150 feet in .3 miles. The last couple of years, I had to stop and walk about half way up and later in the summer was able to run it. This year, I ran all the way up.

I ran a similar route yesterday, just skipped Five Mile.

When I haven't been running, I've been working in the yard, pulling weeds, raking leaves, and generally trying to clean up. Hopefully tomorrow Steve will fix some windows and I'll get some painting in. All this, of course, with a trip down to the beach at some point. The weather here is a little chilly. While it makes for good running and sleeping, it is a little chilly and windy to spend a long period of time on the beach. However, whenever we are down there, the girls find ways to get in the water and claim it is not that cold. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be getting in any open water swims.

I have to include the picture of Emily. Steve took it Wednesday night when they went to the beach to watch the sunset. I think this may be one of my favorites ever.

how beautiful is your daughter?! Love what the sweatshirt says too.

we do some hill repeats here in
Central Park that are exactly .3 miles (or so I'm told)...they are tough.

enjoy the beach!
