Not So Good

For the first time in a long time, I threw in the towel in the middle of a run. I went out Monday around 5 pm and granted, it was a little warm but this summer, anything over 80 degrees is warm. My legs were tired and my lung capacity was not there. I have an inhaler for allergy season which typically starts mid-August and have been using it before runs, but forgot before the run. Honestly, I'm not sure if it is really helping.

I tried to start out slow but found myself needing to walk after a mile. Same thing after 2 miles and by the 3rd mile I was walking more than running. Finally at 3.25 miles, I was disgusted so I walked. I almost made the turn to the house but decided to go at least another mile. In the end, I probably walked about 2 miles (turned off the Garmin when I started walking) in addition to the run.

Yesterday was supposed to be a speed workout and in the end, due to time, decided to just ride around the lake. There were some incoming storms which made me ride a little faster but I'm sure not at the effort a speed workout should be at. I did, however, beat the storms.

Today , ah, today is a glorious rest day! I'm hoping this will make tomorrow's tempo run go smoothly. Saturday, I'm going to race in a 10K while a friend races in her first 5K. I sent in the registration today for both of us so she can't back out and she's driving. Should be fun.

I have so been there. I am almost dreading my next run as soon as my back is 100%. Think of it as the crappy run you got out of your system before the race. At least that is what I tell myself.

With that said, how did the race go?

Perhaps in this moment you are racing. Good luck or as we say: "in bocca al lupo" (in the mouth of the wolf).
