Spring is Finally Here?

Yes, I really think so. Since my last post, it got cold here, then warm, then cold again. Now it looks like the temperatures will steadily climb for the next 10 days. I'm sure we'll still go backwards, but at least the grass has turned green, my tulips are up, and I'm enjoying watching my hostas grow inches every day. It seems like this time of year, you notice something new every time you turn around. I love it!

Something new on the workout front is riding my bike 16 miles to work. I've done it twice. Once last week and then again yesterday when I had to run something up and not necessarily work. Both days, the ride up was great with a great tailwind. The ride back wasn't so much fun with that tailwind turned into a strong headwind. Plus, by 25 miles or so, my back starts to twinge. I think I'm riding hunched over rather than straight backed. Tomorrow, I think I'll ride home as my husband needs the car.

On the running front, I am struggling. For a variety of reasons, last weekend was awful and my running suffered. I did about 1.5 miles of a six mile run and threw in the towel Friday and didn't do the 12 and 5 mile runs I was supposed to do Saturday and Sunday. Mentally and emotionally I was whipped. Thankfully, the attitude has improved but I still replace yesterdays 10 mile run with the 32 mile bike ride.

On an encouraging note, though, my times seem to be improving - probably because I'm rested (haha).

The Indianapolis Mini-Marathon is less than a month away (May 8) and I don't even know how to predict how I'll do. It should be interesting.

Hope your training is going well.

There you are! Glad you are able to commute to work, that is really nice. Sorry your runs didn't go as planned, but speedier is good! Yeah Spring!
